Your answers to our question - Are You Ever 'Too Old' To Own A Dog? -

Puppy Love - from Yvonne.
I read with interest the latest newsletter from Ace Canine which covered the question Are you ever 'too old' to get a dog.
My view is you are never too old. However, the dog you choose is important, as suggested in the article and is dependant on your health and mobility because the dog wants to be happy too. Having lost my miniature poodle last year, I realised that my other dog was lonely and missing the friendship and play from her. What to do? Well, get her a new playmate of course.
In February this year I collected my new pup, a cockapoo. My family thought I was mad and warned I was taking on a very energetic bundle of wool. I am besotted with this pup. She is energetic, playful, loving and oh so funny and I laugh at her antics most days. As soon as she was safe to go out I took her up to see my friends after church on a Sunday morning. She was loved by all and showed them the tricks she had learned so far.
She will get into mischief if bored but time passes a lot quicker when you have a canine companion and that’s important when you are on your own, particularly evenings when winter sets in. Training began as soon as she moved in. She is very motivated by food and she’s a very quick learner. My other big dog is very patient and gentle with her.
I’m not suggesting a pup is the answer, but if you want the company of a canine, then follow the good advice from the article. You are never too old!
My closing thought is owners with good natured dogs could take them to visit dog lovers in elderly care homes and hospitals, an enjoyable time and company for all concerned.
Thank you for your thoughts Yvonne. 💕🐾
