Want to do all you can for your dog's renal health - look no further than RENALGUARD

RenalGuard triple action

RenalGuard triple action

A unique triple action kidney support supplement.

1. Clinically proven anti-inflammatory compounds to support your dog's remaining healthy kidney cells. That means a better quality of life, for longer

2. Contains phosphorous and toxin binders to reduce the workload of your dog's kidneys.

3. Stimulates appetite and reduces muscle wasting, contributing to overall health and mobility

Supports healthy kidney cells

Supports healthy kidney cells

RenalGuard contains fucoidan anti inflammatory compounds derived from the seaweed Japonica Laminaria. These compounds have been clinically proven to slow down deterioration by supporting the remaining healthy kidney cell (nephrons)

Fucoidan is especially effective in renal health, much more so than the omega 3 fish oils sometimes used. Our fucoidan is ultra pure low molecular weight to provide maximum bio-activity.

binds phosphorous & toxins

binds phosphorous & toxins

RenalGuard contains binders that reduce the absorption of phosphorous from food. While some phosphorous is needed to make strong bones, excess is difficult for the kidney to process and can cause stress.

Chitosan in RenalGuard is recognized for its ability to bind uremic toxins in the gut, thereby reducing their blood levels and reducing stress on the kidneys.

addresses muscle wastage & weight loss

addresses muscle wastage & weight loss

Kidney disease characteristically reduces a dog's appetite. This leads to weight loss generally, but muscle loss particularly.

The two amino acids l-carnitine and leucine have been shown to stimulate appetite and promote the specific metabolism required to reduce muscle wastage.

The good news

A prescription diet is the first step

A renal supplement brings IMPORTANT additional benefits

OTHER THINGS YOU MAY WANT TO KNOW
Is a supplement necessary if I feed a "renal" diet to my dog.
Yes it is - a renal diet, though vital in our opinion for reducing the stress of protein digestion, does not contain the specialist anti-inflammatories or binders that are also essential.

Even the best renal diets still contain 1% phosphorous, more than CKD compromised kidneys can deal with.
Why do I need a phosphate binder?
As the kidneys get less effective with age or disease, they lose the power to filter out enough of the phosphate in the bloodstream and then pass it safely into the urine.

That means that the blood phosphate level rises far above the level needed for healthy bones and metabolism. Excess phosphate is very harmful, especially for the heart and circulation.

Even a low phosphorous renal diet food has about 1% of phosphorous in it: too much for CKD compromised kidneys.

The binders function by attaching to phospate present in food in the intestine, thus reducing its absorption into the bloodstream, and consequently reducing the workload of the kidneys. Usually, once started, they are given permanently.
Directions/Feeding
RenalGuard is a powder topping for your dog's food and can be added once daily or spread out over their meals.
Sprinkle one scoop for every 10kg of your dog's weight daily on their meal.
The RenalGuard pot is 150g and contains over 100 level scoopfuls. The pot will last a small dog nearly 4 months and an average sized dog (20kg) 2 months
If feeding dry kibble it may help palatability to dampen the kibble.
RenalGuard is a science based formula...
....using the full quantity of ingredients used in research. We don't believe in adding a bit of that and a bit of the other!

The triple action of RenalGuard is based on well researched scientific and clinical results.

First and foremost our fucoidan anti-inflammatory compounds in RenalGuard have been proven in both research and in clinical trials*. They support the metabolism of the remaining healthy nephrons in CKD, helping keep the kidneys functioning and healthy.

RenalGuard contains binders which are essential for absorbing minerals, such as phosphorous, and uremic toxins that would normally increase the workload of the kidneys.

Ingredients
All the ingredients we use in RenalGuard are supported by research and clinical evidence of their efficacy. We use the full clinical dose of each ingredient.

Proprietary Fucoidan anti-inflammatory compounds. Extracted from Laminaria Japonica seaweed. Backed by extensive research and trials, used here at the full clinical dose.

Chitosan, extracted from crustacean shells, is a natural polymer that is used here to bind and reduce absorption of phosphates and uremic toxins in the gut.

Calcium carbonate (chalk) used as a phosphate binder,

L-carnitine and leucine, amino acids involved in metabolism, used here to promote appetite and reduce muscle wastage.
When should I start feeding RenalGuard ?
We recommend feeding RenalGuard at the earliest opportunity following diagnosis or borderline blood or urine results.. Even if no CKD "stage" is allocated and your dog is asymptomatic
Compatibility with other treatments
RenalGuard is completely safe to use even if your dog as prescription drugs for CKD. The same applies if your dog is receiving drugs for other health issues.
How long does it take for RenalGuard to work?
Because of RenalGuard's triple action, each element will work at a different speed. The phosphate and toxin binding properties show an immediate effect, reducing the strain on the kidneys filtration load. The Fucoidan anti-inflammatory has been shown in clinical trials to provide progressive support with stabilisation or reduction of biological markers after six months. Support for muscle wastage is effected quickly, likely 2-3 weeks. But dogs will all vary of course.
Can I give RenalGuard to prevent kidney problems developing later in life.
There is no research suggesting that the ingredients in RenalGuard can prevent an onset of CKD. So we can't give a straightforward "yes" to that question.

The research* does however show that the fucoidan anti-inflammatory compounds in RenalGuard do have a specific effect in reducing the biological markers that tend to accompany and predict CKD.

Therefore there is some credibility that RenalGuard may have some protective effect.
