QUESTIONS

In omega 3 what is the mg equivalent of EPA and DHA per capsule

Each Dermal capsule contains 30mg of EPA/DHA. The split is approximately 50:50. Bear in mind that it is in a phospholipid form and considerably more absorbable and effective than the glycerol (triglyceride) form found in normal fish oil. In fact one capsule of Dermal delivers the equivalent of up to 1500mg of fish oil derived Omega 3 EPA/DHA. You would not need to feed additional Omega 3.

It says nicotinamide is an immune suppressant whereas I thought it actually reduced immune suppression for skin conditions?

Nicotinamide reduces the release of histamine from the mast cells in the skin. Release of histamine by mast cells is an immune system reaction to allergens which can tend to be excessive and overreactive in some dogs. When mast cells detect a substance that triggers an allergic reaction (an allergen), they release histamine and other chemicals into the bloodstream. Histamine makes the blood vessels expand and the surrounding skin itchy and swollen. Hence the itching and discomfort. Bags of information if you google “nicotinamide in mast cells”. So when we say immune suppressant we mean the immune systems response is reduced.

My dog has kidney disease, can we still use Dermal O3 for his skin issues?

Dermal O3 is safe for CKD dogs, the omega 3 fatty acids in it are anti-inflammatory and will have a naturally supportive effect in the kidneys. It’s best to run it past your vet—especially in stage 3–4 CKD.

Is Dermal O3 safe for dogs with Pancreatitis

A low fat diet for a 20kg dog with pancreatitis would be 15-20 grams of fat per day. Two Dermal O3 capsules for such a dog would contain less than 120mg of fat (in the form of phospholipid DHA/EPA). Therefore the fat contribution of Dermal to a low fat diet would be considerably less than 1%. This is negligible and outside the natural fluctuation of the fat content of a low fat diet and the dog’s own metabolic processes. In addition it is considered likely that the additional DHA/EPA fatty acids provided by Dermal O3 would exhibit their anti-inflammatory properties within the pancreas – thus generally reducing the level of pancreatitis. The logical conclusion is that Dermal O3 is safe to give to dogs with pancreatitis and dogs requiring a low fat diet.

My lurcher has a lot of trouble with his claws continually flaking and the splitting causing infection, he is on anti-biotics at the moment but, I would like to know if I should buy BiotinMax or Dermal O3 and what the difference is.

This sounds very like a condition known as SLO & for that reason I'd suggest Dermal O3 - (Symmetrical LUPOID ONYCHODYSTRPHOHY) It is an auto-immune condition that affects your dog’s nails and paws. It is a serious and painful affliction that requires Veterinary intervention, usually anti biotics followed by supplementation. Biotin alone is often recommended but Dermal contains Biotin plus Omega 3s & an immuno-suppressant. BiotinMax is a much less complex supplement. Dermal O3 contains the main three supplemental ingredients used by Vets: Nicotinamide, Fatty Acids and Biotin. As you will appreciate this is not a quick fix so be prepared for the long haul.

Is Dermal Ok to take with prescription medications from the Vet?

Yes, it is compatible with all the regular medications used in this field including steroids and anti-biotics. But you can always check with us for re-assurance.

Is Dermal 03 safe to use on pregnant or lactating bitches?

Yes, Dermal is safe for pregnant and lactating bitches.

How much zinc is in Dermal?

The straightforward answer is 5mg of elemental zinc per capsule. But its complicated as you will see if you read on.........
The maximum RDA (recommended daily intake) of zinc for humans is 40mg. On that basis the recommended level for a dog would be about 15mg. In the case of dogs, zinc content of pet food is controlled by law to ensure a healthy minimum as well.
The amount of zinc we put in Dermal is based upon the need to ensure that the dog is somewhere near the recommended level by compensating for a possible deficiency. The dogs using Dermal will vary in zinc levels, some may be deficient, others not. With Dermal then, we aim to provide most of the elemental zinc required and we leave the dog to obtain the remainder through diet.
Unlike many nutraceuticals too much zinc can be harmful in several ways. Excess is not simply excreted like many vitamins and minerals.
Therefore we are happy that Dermal contains enough zinc to help most dogs achieve a recommended and safe daily level.

INGREDIENTS and FEEDING

Omega 3 Fatty Acids

Salmon Fatty Acid Extract (Omega3 phospholipid) – 120mg/capsule

Dermal O3 skin care is the ONLY Omega-3 skin supplement with the Fatty Acids DHA/EPA in a biologically active, phospholipid form – as they naturally occur in salmon (not chemically altered) ensuring that they travel to the skin cells and are incorporated in the cell walls with up to 50 times greater bio-availability than all other Omega 3 oils.

One capsule is the equivalent of 3-6 ml of liquid oil and contains the equivalent to 875mg DHA and 625mg EPA from pressed salmon oil. Extracted by a chemical-free process using natural enzymes and cold water. Exceeds both European and U.S. standards for purity – no concerns with toxins or contaminants

Nicotinamide (vitamin B3) reduces irritation and soreness

Vitamin B3 (nicotinamide) – 230mg/capsule, Nicotinamide is multifunctional as an antibiotic, anti-inflammatory and immune system modulator. When present in exceptionally high levels has been found to soothe itchy skin. In the USA the traditional vet's dosage is 250mg/10kg dogs weight daily. Here in the UK it seems to be higher, ranging from 500-750mg/10kg dogs weight daily. There are a number of research papers available on the internet confirming this spread.
Therefore a 10kg dog given one capsule per day will get 230mg Nicotinamide and two capsules 460mg. It is safe to give up to three capsules if one wants to get close to the maximum 750mg.
In consultation with your Vet you may be able to replicate the required Nicotinamide dosage by adjusting the number of capsules.

Biotin - accelerates hair and nail regrowth

Vitamin H – 5mg/capsule

Vitamin H, also called Biotin is needed in very small quantities indeed to achieve normal functions. However it has been demonstrated that when present in large concentrations (5mg/10kilo body weight) then skin health and hair growth is dramatically increased.

I read about this medication on an SLO support group on FB, at first it was said it wasn’t available to me in Australia but had a lovely person send me a private message saying that yes they did indeed ship to Australia.
So after a discussion with my vet after having so much difficulty with my boy and him taking his medication, I decided to give this a try.
So far so good! I am able to open the capsule and mix it in with his meal, something that I couldn’t do with his other very expensive vet prescribed medication. It has only been a short time since starting him on this so not much time to see if it really is helping BUT it looks like I will be a regular customer of this product.
Any chance of it becoming available within Australia?

My working cocker spaniel Bert has in previous years suffered with allergies causing him to lick his paws. So when I saw the Ace Canine product Dermal-O3 I decided to give it a go. Whilst it is early days to really know how many different allergies it will help with the signs at the moment are encouraging.

A remarkable change!

Our middle dog has had a lick scratch itch problem on her belly. These tablets have made a huge difference. Her skin is now pale pink and healthy. The cycle seems to be broken.

Excellent, gave my old girl a better quality of life

I cant recommend this product enough, my 17 year old dogs eyes have improved to much, they are much clearer and with less discharge, I know they will never go back to how they was, age is playing a cruel hand in that, but at the moment they have improved her life 10 fold

Babys eyes

Flexi sprinkles

All my 3 dogs (ages 13-3 years) have flexi sprinkles on their dinner every night. Two of my dogs compete in agility and the 13 year old is still so active, enjoying her hour daily walks and still enjoying playing ball.
I feel all three benefit from this product in protecting their joints.

Flex Sprinkles

Brilliant service arrived promptly.
I can definitely see an improvement in my greyhound his legs are not as stiff and he is moving easier.
