In omega 3 what is the mg equivalent of EPA and DHA per capsule
Each Dermal capsule contains 30mg of EPA/DHA. The split is approximately 50:50. Bear in mind that it is in a phospholipid form and considerably more absorbable and effective than the glycerol (triglyceride) form found in normal fish oil. In fact one capsule of Dermal delivers the equivalent of 300mg of fish oil derived Omega 3 EPA/DHA. You would not need to feed additional Omega 3.
It says nicotinamide is an immune suppressant whereas I thought it actually reduced immune suppression for skin conditions?
Nicotinamide reduces the release of histamine from the mast cells in the skin. Release of histamine by mast cells is an immune system reaction to allergens which can tend to be excessive and overreactive in some dogs.
When mast cells detect a substance that triggers an allergic reaction (an allergen), they release histamine and other chemicals into the bloodstream. Histamine makes the blood vessels expand and the surrounding skin itchy and swollen. Hence the itching and discomfort. Bags of information if you google “nicotinamide in mast cells”.
So when we say immune suppressant we mean the immune systems response is reduced.
My lurcher has a lot of trouble with his claws continually flaking and the splitting causing infection, he is on anti-biotics at the moment but, I would like to know if I should buy BiotinMax or Dermal O3 and what the difference is.
This sounds very like a condition known as SLO & for that reason I'd suggest Dermal O3 - (Symmetrical LUPOID ONYCHODYSTRPHOHY)
