What is Flex for?/When does a dog need Flex?

Flex is used to improve joint movement and reduce lameness. This applies mainly but not exclusively to the limb joints. The spinal column and other parts of the skeletal frame and even soft tissue damage may show improvement.

Equally Flex may be given as a preventative to maintain a dog in peak condition and to reduce the effects of long term wear and tear.Flex  has been used successfully in the following situations:

Injury to limb joints as a result of accident or exertion.

Lameness of a non specific nature where the cause is unknown

Onset of arthritis (not necessarily prematurely).

Especially active dogs have benefited and enjoyed extended working lives.

How soon should an effect be seen?

Owners have reported visible and sometimes dramatic improvement within 2-3 days.  Naturally this is not always the case, and so a more realistic timeframe is a few weeks and results should ordinarily be reviewed after a month. Often, an initial loading dose (double the amount for the first week) can be given to reduce visible symptoms more quickly.

How should Flex be fed? - refer to the feeding page

Flex sprinkle granules are simply sprinkled over your dogs food. They can be mixed in if necessary or dry food can be moistened. We provide a scoop with each pack to help you measure the right amount.

Flex tablets are both small and highly palatable and most dogs will enjoy them as a treat. They can be given at any time. It is often convenient to incorporate them with regular feeding.

What does it cost to use?

Flex Sprinkle costs less than similar competitive products because it contains over 70% active ingredients. It is therefore highly concentrated and very economical to use. Because Flex Sprinkle contains considerably more green lipped mussel extract than other products it can be fed at a reduced economy level to dogs with reduced symptoms or as a maintenance feed.

Flex sprinkle fed at the full level and delivering more green lipped mussel than any other system can cost as little as 35p/day for a large dog, 17p/day for a medium dog, and only 9p/day for a small dog.

How long should a dog stay on Flex?

The vast majority of owners prefer to feed Flex regularly because they value its contibution to long term joint-care.In cases where a specific injury is being treated then feeding may only be of shorter term duration. Continue feeding after improvement is seen to allow the healing to be completed.

When used as a preventative or treatment for arthritic dogs then there is absolutely no harm in long term feeding as all the ingredients in Flex have a strong natural pedigree.

Why isn’t there any glucosamine for dogs in your product?

We don’t add glucosamine or chondroitin because Green Lipped Mussel  is a strong natural source of these building blocks already.

We prefer to add other ingredients instead such as Seleniun, Zinc and Vitamins E and C.

Why is your product different to glucosamine for dogs products?

We believe that the natural constituents of green lipped mussel combined with additional anti-oxidants far outweigh the effectiveness of typical glucosamine based products. The anti-inflammatory properties are greatly superior and the natural sources of glucosamine and chondroitin are more easily assimilated.

Is your green lipped mussel as strong as others?

Greenshell™  green lipped mussel extract contains high natural anti-inflammatory activity. Every production batch is tested/verified by the Bioactivity Investigation Group, University of Otago.

Greenshell™ Green Lipped Mussels are only sourced from EU/USFDA approved growing areas located in the Marlborough Sounds, (Top of the South Island of New Zealand). Prior to harvesting our  suppliers fully inspect the Green Lipped Mussel quality ensuring that only the highest quality Green Lipped Mussels are selected and harvested. These strict control measures guarantee that the live mussels contain the highest levels of Glycosaminoglycans GAG and Omega-3-fatty acid contents.

Greenshell™ Green Lipped Mussels are freeze dried at controlled low temperatures resulting in high anti-inflammatory activity.

Low temperature controls are achieved throughout the entire freeze drying process ensuring the Greenshell™ components are kept at premium high levels. Greenshell™ is stabilized with a unique anti-oxidant ensuring maximum anti-infl ammatory activity for long periods. Some mussel powders (eg,defatted, delipitated mussel powder) can oxidize resulting in low anti-inflammatory activity, other mussel powders are sold without any scientific backing. This is why stabilized Greenshell™ Mussel Powder is a reputable brand
